Fabrice Cambolive, CEO Renault brand:
“With Twingo, we rose to a challenge that many considered impossible: to develop an attractive, technologically advanced, affordable European electric car for under £20,000. By reviving the pioneering spirit behind the success of the original Twingo, we are demonstrating our ability to stay one step ahead of market expectations and to make electric mobility affordable to the greatest number.
“Twingo E-Tech electric has already sold nearly 26,000 units since launch, claiming the top spot in its segment in the third quarter. This shows that we can make electric mobility affordable without sacrificing everything we love about cars: design, ingenuity, driving pleasure and emotion. We are truly proud to see Twingo join the seven finalists for the Car of the Year award today. Its presence also illustrates the momentum of the brand, with a Renault vehicle among the finalists every year since 2022.”
The electric city car with big ambitions
Already leader in its segment across Europe with market share of about 25%, Renault Twingo E-Tech electric reboots the spirit of the first generation with a contemporary twist.
Cheerful, expressive and instantly recognisable, it features an interior space worthy of a higher market segment despite being just 3.79 metres long. With its five-door body, two independent rear seats sliding over 17 cm, and folding front passenger seat, users can adapt the interior to suit their needs. Boot capacity totals up to 360 litres with a load length of up to 2 metres. Outstanding versatility for such a compact city car.
This new-generation Twingo is also the first city car to ship with technologies usually reserved for segments further up the market. All versions feature a twin-screen display and connected multimedia system. The Techno trim also includes OpenR Link with Google built-in – a first in the A-segment – with access to an EV route planner and also Gemini, Google’s AI-powered conversational assistant.
Twingo E-Tech electric also gains up to 24 driving aids, complemented by the One Pedal function, which is particularly useful in urban driving. Further, the range recently gained Twingobay, a panoramic glassroof with an area of 0.7 m². This feature creates a brighter in-car experience, increasing the sense of space for all passengers with natural light flooding into the cabin.
Designed for real-world use, Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has a 60 kW (82 hp) motor and LFP battery with 27.5 kWh of usable capacity, for a range of up to 263 km based on the WLTP cycle. Its 6.6 kW charger can be supplemented by an Advanced Charge Pack with 11 kW AC charging, 50 kW DC fast charging and bidirectional V2L and V2G functions. Priced at under €20,000 excluding subsidies, it is assembled in Europe at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. An affordable and efficient electric city car, full of character, designed to make everyday life easier for users while putting a smile on their faces.
